while generating adequate profits today and increased profitability in the future. |
| |
Mulli Brothers Ltd; Nali Ltd and Satemwa Tea Estate participated in one of the most successful exhibitions ever hosted in the Gulf. Gulfood 2008 was an opportunity for Malawi to interact with global leaders in business especially food processing and packaging apparently from the very raw materials that Malawi can supply like grains and beans including tea. USAID facilitated the entire operation very professionally and their support is highly acknowledged by the participating companies that made it to Dubai United Arab Emirates. |
| |
Mulli Brothers acknowledges the joining of other companies which has been our desire since the last Ndola Zambia International tradefair. The Gulfood 2008 is one of its kind in the region that provides a strategic business platform in the food industry.
|
| |
Mulli Brothers took samples of grains and beans to Dubai the hub of business ventures in the world like: pigeon peas, tchana, rice, groundnuts, cow peas, white beans, green/black gram, ground beans, sunflower, sesame seed, solghum including MATECO tea from its newly acquired STECO factory. The exhibition was a success indeed. |
| |
As torch bearers the team thus the participating companies represented Malawi at this global forum out there and hope others will emulate this patriotic example for the benefit of all Malawians for now and the future. Development agenda can only be set by committed business people who see Malawi differently in order to uplift the lives of many Malawians who without such initiatives would be without employment. |
| |
More than 2,500 companies exhibited at the Gulfood 2008, which started on the 24th and finished on the 27th of February 2008. Gulfood 2008, is the most historical and the largest gathering of food, drink, foodservice and hospitality professionals in the region. The exhibition attracted up to 72 countries. The organizers of the fair commented: The food, drink and foodservice industry is one of the most globalised sectors of the world economy and its international character is reflected in the diverse composition of exhibitors at the Gulfood exhibition. said Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) Director General Helal Saeed Al Marri. |
| |
Among the largest national pavilions were Germany, Turkey, US, Italy, Spain, Egypt, France, Australia, The Netherlands, Thailand and the UK. In addition new countries joining for the first time included Ecuador, Iraq, Lithuania, Mexico and Malawi. |
| |
Gulfood 2008 is the only event and companies from all over the world gathered to take advantage of the targeted trade buyers from over 140 countries who normally converge at the exhibition each year. This time round, Malaysia brought 47 companies supplying various food products and beverages to gain a higher profile in the Gulf and neighbouring markets. There were also delegations from Egypt, France, Nigeria, Romania and Thailand. |
| |
| The coverage of Malawi in the Gulfood Newsletter gave the country so much publicity at the fair so much that the stand had overwhelming support of various business people who were interested in Agriculture produce from Malawi |
| |
| Business prospects are very high indeed, the message to all Malawians interested in venturing into global markets is that QUALITY must be very high well graded grains and beans stand a better chance of doing well on the international market and this should not be underestimated by any means. Secondly the volumes must be worth the business because we are talking about exporting a minimum of 50 containers every month. High on the list are pigeon peas, tchana, beans, sesame seed, soya beans, sunflower seed, rice and many others. |
| |
| MULLI BROTHERS LTD wishes to appeal to all interested parties to participate in export ventures of Malawi produce. The Mulli Brothers Team comprised of Mr Leston Mulli MANAGING DIRECTOR; Wise Chauluka BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT MANAGER and Mervis Makunganya GROUP MARKETING MANAGER participated in the Gulfood fair 2008 in Dubai, UEA. The team is ready to give contacts and also share information with you all for the good of our country. The experience was tremendous and productive indeed and next time give a deep thought so you can showcase your products at these international fairs its good for developing new markets. Sitting around and complaining about markets will not help Malawi. Businessmen need to be strategically aggressive and focused in their quest for success in a very competitive global market. |
